In an interview with People<\/em> <\/em>magazine to mark the occasion, the weatherman spoke about what\u2019s next for him and his career.<\/p>\n\u201cWell, let\u2019s put it this way. I haven\u2019t thought about retirement,\u201d he told the publication, before joking, \u201cSomebody at NBC, that might be a different story.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI love what I do,\u201d he added. \u201cI feel good. I love this job. I love doing it. At some point, I guess I won\u2019t be, but I don\u2019t feel like that\u2019s anytime soon, so I\u2019m just gonna keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n

To say that this was a dream job isn\u2019t really accurate because it never dawned on me that I could be on the Today<\/em> show,\u201d he said.<\/p>\nAlthough he hasn\u2019t made plans to retire yet, Roker has thought about what he wants his legacy to be when he leaves.<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople, when they watch, that they didn\u2019t feel like I wasted their time,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd that hopefully they felt better after watching than before.\u201d<\/p>\n

Throughout his years on Today<\/em>, Roker has spoken openly about the health challenges he\u2019s faced. In 2022, he was hospitalized with blood clots in his legs and lungs, forcing him to miss the annual Thanksgiving Day parade for the first time in 27 years.<\/p>\nAfter returning home, he ended up in the hospital one month later, with internal bleeding caused by ulcers. During that hospital stay, Roker was pulled into emergency surgery where his colon was resected and his gallbladder was removed. <\/p>\n
He returned to the Today<\/em> show in 2023 and explained more about what happened. \u201cI lost half my blood. [My doctors] were trying to figure out where it was,\u201d he told the show\u2019s viewers about his time in the hospital. \u201cI really do feel good. I\u2019m sure I\u2019m going to collapse like a stone after this is over because this is the first work I\u2019ve done.
