Phillips revealed in a new interview with <em>US Weekly<\/em> that following her social media post, 1,300 people have come forward wanting to get tested to see if they were a match. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cOut of those, I think we have like 50 or 60 that could possibly be a match,\u201d she said. The outlet noted that Phillips\u2019 blood type is O negative. <\/p>\n<p>Currently, the <em>Almost Famous<\/em> star is on dialysis, a life-sustaining treatment that acts as a stand-in kidney, filtering waste and toxins from the bloodstream, according to the Cleveland Clinic. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI could make it on dialysis for a couple years, or I could get an infection in my line tomorrow and be gone in a few days. He\u2019s maybe going to be able to get into the kidney exchange, but they\u2019re not sure. They\u2019ve already denied him once, so he\u2019s gonna try again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A kidney exchange, as described by UC Davis Health, is a program in which two or more incompatible donor-recipient pairs are matched to give a kidney to a compatible recipient in another pair, essentially \u201cexchanging\u201d donors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf he gives his kidney, it would put me higher on the list,\u201d Phillips shared. \u201cSo then I would get the next kidney that\u2019s a match for me. I have antibodies [that make kidney rejection more likely], so it makes it complicated.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Phillips was born with underdeveloped kidneys.
