He also referenced filete porte\u00f1o, a decorative style seen on buses, trucks and in homes, which also looks very Moschino on a flaring dance dress.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWhile Moschino is perceived as being as Italian as pizza, pasta or polenta, Appiolaza noted that founder Franco Moschino took an \u201copen source\u201d approach to design, finding inspiration in many unexpected places. Indeed, the founder\u2019s boyfriend was from Spain \u2014 hence the polka dots and flamenco references that became part of the brand lore.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAppiolaza even found a parallel to the founder\u2019s beloved Olive Oyl character in Mafalda, conceived by late Argentine cartoonist Quino as a nonconformist girl \u201cconcerned with peace and human rights, who hates soup and loves The Beatles,\u201d according to his estate\u2019s official website.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI don\u2019t think Moschino necessarily needs to be about a certain culture or a certain group of people,\u201d Appiolaza said during a preview. \u201cHe gave the brand the freedom to be just creative.
