The actor and director has been walking the Croisette for two decades now, first attending the festival in 2005 \u2013 and despite being a pro who knows how to navigate the circus of it all, the magic has not rubbed off.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a privilege to be in Cannes!\u201d she says, glancing at the ocean behind her. \u201cIt\u2019s not just about the films \u2013 it\u2019s about the convergence of all creative industries: the fashion, the writers. the journalists, the brands \u2013 everybody\u2019s storytelling. You could sit here all day long and just people-watch and be blown away by it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Longoria\u2019s Cannes is a busy affair. When she\u2019s not walking the red carpet or taking part in photoshoots, she\u2019s attending parties and, of course, watching films. It can be an exhausting operation. Fortunately, Longoria has a morning routine that places her in a good position for the day ahead.<\/p>\n
\u201cCoffee!\u201d she exclaims. \u201cI roll out of bed and push the button on my Nespresso machine. I like all coffee too. I like a macchiato, I love a latte, a cappuccino \u2013 or a Nespresso after lunch. It depends on what country I\u2019m in based on who does it best.\u201d She says she\u2019s also one of those lucky souls you can sink a Nespresso after dinner \u201cand then go straight to bed\u201d. <\/p>\n
Longoria, known by many for playing Gabrielle Solis in the TV show Desperate Housewives<\/em>, made her directorial debut in 2023 with Flamin\u2019 Hot<\/em>, a biographical drama about a man claiming to have invented Flamin\u2019 Hot Cheetos. As a filmmaker, the impact of having a project chosen by festival programmers is not lost on her.<\/p>\n\u201cIt\u2019s such an honour to be selected to premiere here \u2018cause you\u2019re going to get a global audience that has an intense appreciation for the art. Every festival isn\u2019t like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an illusion that they\u2019ve created,\u201d she says, gesturing to herself. \u201cEspecially with the red carpet. Everything\u2019s custom-made. You get sketches from designers and they\u2019re like, \u2018We did metal already so let\u2019s not do that again\u2019 or \u2018we did this shape already, so let\u2019s switch it up.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n
Across the seven days she\u2019s at the festival, \u201cit\u2019s about mixing and matching to make sure we\u2019re serving different looks\u201d.<\/p>\n
Longoria also reveals that a surefire way to avert any disasters is to bring any outfits you\u2019re planning on wearing on night one with you on the plane. \u201cI always bring my outfit on my carry-on because too many times my luggage has not arrived.\u201d<\/p>\n
The actor-director advises Cannes newbies to \u201carrive days earlier to get acclimated\u201d to the festival, stating: \u201cIf you hit the ground running, you\u2019re just catching up with sleep.\u201d<\/p>\n
