Representatives for the White Lotus star confirmed she was pregnant to US media, with a source telling People magazine: \u201cIt was a beautiful surprise after an emotional year,\u201d adding: \u201cThey feel very blessed.\u201d <\/p>\n
Plaza, 41, is reportedly due to give birth in the fall. The Independent <\/em>has reached out to representatives for both Plaza and Abbott.<\/p>\nPlaza and Abbott first worked together in the independent psychological drama Black Bear<\/em>, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2020 to critical acclaim. They then appeared in the 2023 off-Broadway revival of John Patrick Shanley\u2019s Danny and the Deep Blue Sea<\/em>, which ran till January 2024.<\/p>\nThe news of Plaza\u2019s pregnancy came over a year after the death of her husband, screenwriter and director Baena, who died by suicide in early 2025. <\/p>\n

The White Lotus<\/em> star spoke at length about Baena\u2019s death for the first time in August on Amy Poehler\u2019s Good Hang<\/em> podcast. She reflected on the time since his passing, likening her grief to \u201ca giant ocean of awfulness\u201d depicted in the 2025 film The Gorge<\/em>.<\/p>\n\u201cThis is a really dumb analogy \u2013 it was a joke at a certain point but I kind of mean it \u2013 have you seen the film The Gorge<\/em>? It\u2019s like an alien movie with Miles Teller,\u201d she said. \u201cIn the movie, there\u2019s a cliff on one side and a cliff on the other side and a gorge in between, which is filled with other people who are trying to get there.
