Thurston was first diagnosed with breast cancer in mid-February. Initially, her condition was classified as stage\u202fthree, but a few weeks later \u2014 after relocating to New York and consulting a new medical team \u2014 she received a revised diagnosis of stage\u202ffour breast cancer that had metastasized to her liver<\/p>\n
On Saturday, Thurston shared her thoughts on her Instagram channel, Boobie Broadcast, reflecting on Lewis\u2019s passing.<\/p>\n
\u201cCurrently more accepting about my diagnosis. Although the passing of fellow sister Ananda Lewis had me spiraling for a day,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI\u2019ve mostly kept busy and my mind distracted which has helped A TON.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy hair is coming out in an unnatural amount of clumps,\u201d Thurston said. \u201cWorking on that.\u201d<\/p>\n
The former reality television star recalled \u201cgoing through customs\u201d at the airport with her husband, Jeff Arcuri, when she suddenly couldn\u2019t remember where she was traveling from.<\/p>\n
\u201c[They asked], \u2018Where are you coming from?\u2019 And I looked at them and I was like, \u2018I don’t remember. I don’t remember,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cJeff and I got in a \u2014 not an argument, but you know, a little disagreement. I was like, \u2018This has happened before,\u2019 and he’s like, \u2018When?\u2019 I was like, \u2018I don’t know, but I know it has.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSometimes I’m like, stop feeling bad for yourself, but then other times I’m like, no, you’re allowed to feel bad for yourself. Cancer sucks,\u201d the former reality star said.<\/p>\n
Lewis revealed her breast cancer diagnosis in 2020. During a round-table discussion on CNN in 2024, she admitted her doctors recommended she receive a double mastectomy after her diagnosis, but she refused.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy plan at first was to get out excessive toxins in my body. I felt like my body is intelligent, I know that to be true. Our bodies are brilliantly made,\u201d she told the hosts.<\/p>\n
\u201cI decided to keep my tumor and try to work it out of my body a different way. Looking back on that, I go, \u2018You know what? Maybe I should have.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
She added of her decision not to undergo surgery: \u201cMy quality of life was very important to me\u2026 I want to want to be here. So I had to do it a certain way, for me.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
