The Welsh TV presenter said in an Instagram tribute shared on Monday (11 August) that his father had the \u201cmost perfect, peaceful end\u201d surrounded by family, with Welsh hymns playing and his \u201cgrandsons on speaker phone saying goodbye\u201d. <\/p>\n
Jones shared a photo of himself sitting next to his father, who was smiling in his hospital bed, while Jones held a phone speaker to his ear.<\/p>\n
\u201cDad was poorly for a while, he put up a good fight, incredible really,\u201d wrote the BBC Morning Live <\/em>host. \u201cIt was so nice to see his dry humour, the importance of faith and his love for classical music shine through at the end.\u201d<\/p>\nCelebrities including The One Show\u2019s<\/em> Alex Jones, Sir Chris Hoy and radio presenter Gaby Roslin shared messages of support.<\/p>\nJones wrote, translated from Welsh: \u201cThinking of you Geth. Loads of love to you all,\u201d while cyclist Hoy said: \u201cSo sorry to hear it mate, but heartwarming to see him surrounded with love.\u201d<\/p>\n
Roslin added: \u201cSending you so much love and my deepest sympathies to you and your whole family. I am so sorry Geth. But they always stay in our hearts forever.\u201d<\/p>\n
Doctor Who<\/em> showrunner Russell T Davies wrote: \u201cOh much love, darling xx,\u201d while documentary host Stacey Dooley shared a red love-heart emoji.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cHe probably taught them at some point,\u201d wrote Jones. \u201cHe made a big impact on education in these parts over a long period of time.\u201d<\/p>\n
The presenter remembered his father\u2019s teaching style as \u201cstrict and direct, always reasonable\u201d, adding he was a \u201cteacher for 40 years, and a headteacher for 28\u201d.<\/p>\n
