\n\tMarco Rambaldi is finding it hard to leave home, and he\u2019s not alone. The designer who built his brand on nostalgia, old crafts \u2014 namely crochet \u2014 and happy memories of Nonno and Nonna\u2019s kitchen took inspiration from adolescents who are on the cusp of adulthood, and struggling to grow up.<\/p>\n
\n\tTo reinforce that point, he left boxes of Fisher-Price \u201cLittle People\u201d figures on every seat, and wine bottles with candles stuffed in the necks, an attempt to bridge the worlds of adolescence and adulthood. <\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cThey find comfort in fairy tales, and characters like Pippi Longstocking,\u201d Rambaldi said of the season\u2019s muses. He said he chose Piazza Tomasi di Lampedusa as the venue to underline the importance of the town square, and the comfort of the wider community.<\/p>\n
\n\tTo wit, a diverse cast of models, including the Italian Paralympic athlete\u00a0Veronica Yoko Plebani, wound their way around the glass-walled space, where some guests were seated, and into the piazza outside, where others were standing. Rambaldi made everyone feel welcome.<\/p>\n
\n\tThere were no surprises in this sweet collection. Crochet, made with reclaimed yarns, played a starring role, with the designer fashioning doily designs into crop tops, trousers, long skirts and even tank tops, some with the word \u201cRambaldi\u201d picked out across the front. <\/p>\n
\n\tHe added white crochet edges to the rippling tiers of miniskirts and black ones to the waistbands, seams and edges of leather trousers, jackets, and skirts, part of a partnership with the Italian fashion fair Lineapelle. <\/p>\n
\n\tLittle round doilies adorned woven straw bags, and there were even crochet laces on Rambaldi\u2019s new, chocolate brown sneakers done with Bata. <\/p>\n
\n\tHome is really where Rambaldi\u2019s heart is. He transformed tablecloths into long skirts edged with fringe and used needlepoint mesh as inspiration for delicate printed shirts. He even layered a chunky cream cardigan \u2014 just in case there\u2019s a draft, darling \u2014 around the shoulders of one of the wedding gowns.<\/p>\n
