They\u2019re completely unique, and it\u2019s great for Linda\u2019s space because they\u2019re items that nobody else in the world has.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe kimonos, sourced from Japan and then fabricated in Italy, are \u201cquite a labor of love,\u201d he said. \u201cYou buy a kimono, which could be anywhere from 20 to 100 years old, and there\u2019s just enough fabric to make one or maybe one-and-a-half jackets out of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tTailoring on the women\u2019s side of the business has become Curtiss\u2019s calling card. \u201cWe\u2019ve established a little niche of what we\u2019re doing,\u201d he said, calling out a printed denim suit from last season, tuxedos and brocade suits he\u2019s done recently. He\u2019s also seen success with silk pajama sets. \u201cThey are all selling really well, clients are coming back and buying again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe timing is right for the brand, Curtiss reasoned, despite the shapeshifting retail landscape in the U.S. and waning consumer spend on luxury goods. \u201cIt\u2019s really significant for us,\u201d he said. \u201cWhen you have a new brand, people might see it somewhere and keep kicking it down the road, but everyone waits for a seminal moment. In New York, anybody that comes to town is going to check out Linda\u2019s store, and every store in the country looks at what she\u2019s got.
