All of the Guinness character, just a little lighter! <\/p>\n<p>\u201cGreat for when you\u2019re in the mood for a pint but with a little less alcohol! Just ask for a \u201860\/40.\u2019\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Not everyone, however, is applauding the innovation. <\/p>\n<p>One person commented on the pub\u2019s post, calling it \u201ca load of nonsense\u201d with another arguing that it \u201cshould be illegal\u201d. <\/p>\n<div class=\"sc-awdjp1-2 cbpRGD sc-awdjp1-3 image align-center\">\n<figure class=\"sc-1cbdeug-0 cXcwgU\">\n<div class=\"sc-awdjp1-0 gvrktG\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.the-independent.com\/2025\/11\/10\/7\/12\/GettyImages-1073457242.jpeg\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.the-independent.com\/2025\/11\/10\/7\/12\/GettyImages-1073457242.jpeg?quality=75&amp;width=320&amp;auto=webp 320w, https:\/\/static.the-independent.com\/2025\/11\/10\/7\/12\/GettyImages-1073457242.jpeg?quality=75&amp;width=640&amp;auto=webp 640w\" loading=\"lazy\" alt=\"\" class=\"sc-1mc30lb-0 ggpMaE\"\/><\/div><figcaption class=\"sc-1cbdeug-1 sc-1cbdeug-3 gtVitN hgzWpY\"><span class=\"sc-1cbdeug-7 exGSyR\">(<!-- -->Getty<!-- -->)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cWhat is the point to this?\u201d asked a third person, with someone else writing: \u201cFull pints or nothing\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>Others, however, have praised the \u201ctop-draw thinking\u201d behind the idea, pointing to Guinness Mid-Strength, a low-alcohol stout with 2.8 per cent ABV that was test-marketed in Limerick, Ireland between 2006 and 2008. <\/p>\n<p>Darah Curran, known to his 165,000 social media followers as The Guinness Guru, chalks the 60\/40 pint up to marketing, telling <em>The Telegraph<\/em>: \u201cThis is obviously done to go viral and fair play because it obviously works.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know if I make a video about it, it will get clicks and views so I\u2019ll probably go and make a video trying it, so fair play to them in that sense. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you want to go out and have 10 pints and only feel like you\u2019ve had four, fair play.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Curran added: \u201cThe quick reaction from people will always be this is absolutely sacrilegious, this should be illegal. Is it ruining the classic pint of Guinness? Maybe it is, but just don\u2019t order it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is an original idea. I don\u2019t think it would be for me. I think most people\u2019s opinion will be it\u2019s all or nothing, it\u2019s either 100 per cent or zero.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The move comes as more young adults turn away from alcohol.
