On X, viewers praised the Bridesmaid<\/em>\u2019s star\u2019s new look.<\/p>\n\u201cMelissa McCarthy! Oh my!! I\u2019ve had a crush on her forever,\u201d one person wrote. \u201cI had no idea she had lost this much weight. Still crushing!\u201d<\/p>\n

McCarthy\u2019s monologue saw her ask the show\u2019s stage crew for \u201ca little Christmas magic.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSo how about we put a little bit of snow to get us in the holiday mood?\u201d she said. \u201cThis is SNL<\/em>, don\u2019t be stingy with the snow!\u201d<\/p>\nHowever, it quickly went from a flurry to an avalanche as a wave of fake snow fell on top of her. \u201cOkay, that was way too much!\u201d she exclaimed before continuing the monologue.<\/p>\n
Earlier this year, Barbra Streisand drew backlash after commenting on a photo of McCarthy on Instagram to ask whether she was taking the weight-loss drug Ozempic.<\/p>\n
McCarthy ended up taking to Instagram again to address the comment where she defended the EGOT winner.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe takeaway \u2014 Barbra Streisand knows I exist? She reached out to me. And she thought I looked good. I win the day,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n
Streisand also issued a clarification on Instagram, claiming she only wanted to pay The Little Mermaid <\/em>star a compliment. \u201cShe looked fantastic! I just wanted to pay her a compliment. I forgot the world is reading!\u201d<\/p>\nThe Gilmore Girls <\/em>alum has been open about her attitude to weight loss in the past.<\/p>\nShe told CBS Mornings <\/em>in 2015: \u201cI finally said [to myself], \u2018Oh, for God\u2019s sake, stop worrying about it,\u2019 and it may be the best thing I’ve ever done.<\/p>\n\u201cI truly stopped worrying about [my weight]. I stopped over-analyzing, over-thinking, over-doing anything.\u201d<\/p>\n
She added: \u201cI just stopped constantly being worried about it, and I think there’s something to kinda loosening up and not being so nervous and rigid about it that, bizarrely, has worked.\u201d<\/p>\n
There are two episodes of SNL<\/em> left in 2025. Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery<\/em> star Josh O\u2019Connor will make his hosting debut on December 13, joined by musical guest Lily Allen.
