Lacoste Celebrates Lenglen Bag With Tennis-inspired Café at Selfridges

LONDON — Lacoste is serving up style and sport at Selfridges with a tennis-inspired café celebrating the launch of its tennis skirt-inspired bag, The Lenglen.

Open until the end of the week under the Duke Street Canopy, the pop-up transforms the café into a courtside experience.

Interiors nod to the French brand’s fall 2025 runway show, which took place earlier this year on Roland Garros’ center court — with design cues drawn from the iconic red clay. French bakery Miel created a bespoke menu of tennis-inspired food and beverages to add to the allure of the experience.

This is not Lacoste’s first partnership with the department store. The brand held a summerlong takeover last year. “Since our activation of Selfridges during summer 2024, we have nourished key moments with Selfridges such as a fashion show, collabs, tennis season and today, our leather goods collection,” a Lacoste spokesperson said.

“Since its creation, Lacoste has stood at the crossroads of sport and fashion, with a unique tennis heritage. The iconic pleated skirt inspired the Lenglen bag, which in turn has become a new icon infused with the brand’s sporting roots, as well as its elegance and authenticity both on and off the court.”

Named for French tennis legend Suzanne Lenglen, who revolutionized women’s sportswear in the 1920s, the Lenglen bag embodies the brand’s balance of legacy and modernity.

“While our roots are firmly planted in the sport of tennis, reflecting elegance, performance and authenticity — the brand has evolved to embrace a broader lifestyle appeal.” The Lacoste spokesperson added, “We strive to offer consumers versatile, stylish pieces that resonate both on and off the court.”

Alongside the café, Selfridges’ accessories hall is stocking Lacoste’s popular Leather Racquet bag as well as the highly anticipated Lenglen Hobo, available exclusively at the retailer.
