Burberry Reopens in São Paulo, Offering Made-to-order Leather Trenches

MADE IN BRAZIL: Burberry is back in Brazil with a newly refurbished store at the Iguatemi São Paulo mall in the heart of the city.

The interiors include elm wood — traditionally used in British furniture-making during the late 18th century — as well as the signature Burberry check on sofas and rugs.

Outside the store there’s an installation that showcases the brand’s heritage. It includes a replica of an outfit worn by Sir Ernest Shackleton for the Endurance expedition, which lasted from 1914 to 1917, and key archive styles including the Tielocken, the predecessor to the trench.

Alongside the winter 2025 collection are two accessories exclusives, the Chainmail bag and the Cabana Maille mules, both done in verdant green colorways.

In-store product offerings also include made-to-order leather trenchcoats and a personalization service for new trenchcoats and scarves. They can be embroidered or embossed with leather patches.

The store houses a Scarf Bar offering designs in cashmere and silk twill in a variety of colors, patterns, textures and more than 30 shades of Burberry check.

To celebrate the reopening, Burberry will be taking over the high-end, family-owned Pati Piva café, which is located in the mall, until Nov. 9. There is a bespoke menu offering English pastries and teas, with coffee cups and printed menus adorned in Burberry check.

To mark the opening, the Iguatemi shopping center will also feature paintings of the Burberry store’s facade by the French-Brazilian artist Paulo Mariotti. He has created an original illustration featuring the Piso Paulista, the decorative black-and-white mosaic pavement that’s found throughout São Paulo.

Burberry’s latest store interior design debuted with the reopening of the Bond Street flagship in London in 2023. The new spaces are bright with wide open floor space and fixtures designed to make the clothing and accessories pop. The design is pared back, and the star of the show is the merchandise.

Walls and floors are white, while flashes of color and texture appear in the form of chubby bouclé sofas and chairs or swirling rugs covered in Burberry’s signature shade of deep blue. The elm wood furniture and wall panels add midcentury modern flair.
